FAQ
Guidance for parents and families.
My child speaks no English – can we still apply to Kita International?
Children at Kita International come from all over the world and very often their native language is neither English nor German. It is no requirement for admission to speak either of the languages. It is, however, important that the child has a good level of their own native language before embarking on learning two new languages.
Does it matter if we as parents do not speak English?
It is helpful if parents have a knowledge of English as all parent meetings and other functions are conducted in English. However, it is not a must.
Are all educators qualified and do they speak English at a first-language level?
All members of our team are qualified early childhood educators. Although they come from diverse international backgrounds, they speak English at a near-first-language level.
How is the transition into kindergarten structured?
The settling-in period is introduced step by step. Children start with one hour per day, gradually increasing their time at kindergarten over the following days. The process is tailored to each child’s individual needs and typically takes about 3–4 weeks.
When are children admitted?
Children can be admitted throughout the year, depending on availability of places.
How often do the children spend time outdoors?
In general, children go outside at least once a day, adapted to their daily routine and specialist lessons. Since we spend time outdoors in all weather, it is important that children always have appropriate clothing at kindergarten.
What are the tuition fees?
For information about our current fees, please feel free to contact us directly.
Will my child automatically be offered a place at the Berlin International School after attending Kita International?
Children who have attended the Starter class at Kita International get priority admission if they stick to the deadlines, which in case of children from Kita International is December before they are due to start school. After that time the children’s application will be treated like any other application from outside families. However, any placement also requires the school’s principal consent hence automatic admission cannot be guaranteed.
